That’s right, spikes. It’s the perfect way to add a bit of edge to a look, to get things to look a little (or a lot) more dangerous and really help to express a piercing the right way. Now if I know you, punk rockers in your denim vest and doc martins, you don’t want a Sparkling Rainbow Teddy Bear Dangle labret do you? No. You want something that matches those spikes on your shoulders; something that’ll make an impression in the mosh pit. Something like… a Stainless Steel Spiked Talon Labret. That’s right, talon! Like a hawk!
Okay, so that first paragraph might have been a little over the top, but you get what I’m saying right? There’s a very clear audience for certain styles, and for a punk and metal head like myself, there are just times when nothing will do but spikes. It’s the epitome of hardcore rough, from black metal Mayhem’s steel bracers, to the spikes studded into Sid Vicious’ vest . The simplicity of a clean steel or titanium spike brings out the “shimmer” in just the right way.
It really doesn’t matter what you have pierced or what you’re looking for , if there’s a hole then guaranteed there’s a spike to adorn it. Pieces ranging from single cones made of white gold for a clean and simple look, to balls with a cluster of spikes spread out around them. The same goes for how large and expressive you want the piece to be. Things like basic titanium spikes can give a hardcore and tribal look to a septum piercing while still being small and unassuming. Something like a labret talon on the other hand, will stand out and be a huge expression of your lower lip.
From industrial bars, to toe rings, septum bars, and hanging spikes off of captive rings and labret studs, availability now makes it easy to spike your ensemble just about anywhere.
