14k Gold Septum Rings

The forever version of the septum ring: solid 14k gold, yellow or white, all the way through. Forward-facing CZ and opal hinged segment rings that click shut, and tension captive rings with a single gem bead, every one in the septum-standard 16G. Most are made to order. None are going to turn on you. Since 1999.

14k Gold Septum Ring Fit & Care Guide

Fit: everything here is 16G. Hinged rings come in 5/16 inch (8mm) for a snug fit that keeps a forward-facing gem centered, or 3/8 inch (10mm) for a little more hang. Tension captives run 3/8 to 1/2 inch for a bolder drop. Read the numbers off the ring you wear now and match them; this is not the price point for guessing.

Yellow or white: both are 14k and both outlast the piercing. Yellow is the warm classic; white reads like platinum and shows off the CZ. Nickel-sensitive? Choose yellow; white gold alloys vary by piece.

Care: gold is softer than steel and titanium, so treat the closure with respect. Open a hinged ring by the segment only and never flex the hoop; ease a tension captive just enough to seat the bead. Repeated bending works gold brittle, so this is a put-it-in-and-leave-it ring. A rinse and a soft cloth bring the shine back.

The tension captive rings on this page are made in our own gold department in Buffalo, New York; the hinged gem rings come from our specialist partners. Prices are the price. Buy-one-get-two promotions do not apply to 14k gold.

FAQ

Yes. Every ring on this page is solid 14k gold all the way through, yellow or white, so the color you buy is the color you keep. Our gold-tone and PVD septum rings are good jewelry too, but they live on the regular septum pages, not here.

Both are 14k and both wear for decades. Pick by the look: yellow reads warm and classic against skin, white reads like platinum and lets the CZ do the talking. If you are nickel-sensitive, choose yellow; white gold alloys vary and we would rather you not find out the hard way on your septum.

16G is the septum standard and everything here. Hinged rings come in 5/16 inch (8mm) for a snug, forward-sitting fit and 3/8 inch (10mm) for a little more hang; the tension captives run from 3/8 up to 1/2 inch for a bolder drop. Match the numbers on the ring you wear now before you spend gold money.

Gold is softer than steel, so be gentle and deliberate. On a hinged ring, open and close by the segment only; never flex the hoop. On a tension captive, ease the ends apart just enough to seat the bead and no further. Repeated bending works gold brittle over time, so put it in, leave it in, and enjoy it.

You are paying for gold by weight, hand-set CZ or opal, and a hinge or tension closure machined to jewelry tolerances. Most pieces are made to order, which is why they show deep availability. The price you see is the price; buy-one-get-two promotions do not apply to 14k gold.

Solid 14k gold is on the short list of metals piercers accept for fresh piercings, but a septum takes 4 to 8 weeks to settle and the first change is easier in a piercer's chair than your bathroom. Keep the starter in until you are cleared, then make the gold your forever ring.
