What should you know?
๐ Which Piercings Need Extra Thought?
Some piercings come with a bit more responsibility but that doesnโt mean you should avoid them. It just means going in informed.
๐ Movement Can Affect Healing
Areas like fingers or surface piercings deal with constant motion and friction, which can lead to irritation, snagging, or shorter lifespan.
๐ Oral Piercings Need Awareness
Tongue, lip, and smiley piercings may involve swelling, tooth or gum contact, and require consistent oral hygiene.
๐ Thin Tissue = Extra Care
Piercings through delicate areas (like the smiley) can be more prone to tearing or irritation if not done and maintained properly.
๐ Placement Is Key
Even common piercings like nostrils or cartilage can have issues if placement isnโt precise. Experience matters.
๐ Healing Takes Patience
Cartilage and surface piercings often heal slower and can be sensitive to pressure, bumps, or sleeping on them.
๐ Surface Piercings Have Unique Risks
Dermals and surface piercings may be more prone to migration or rejection over time.
๐ Jewelry Matters More Than You Think
The right size and material can prevent long-term irritation, especially in oral or high-contact areas.
๐ Itโs Not About โRiskyโ... Itโs About Being Prepared
With a skilled piercer, quality jewelry, and proper aftercare, most of these piercings can heal successfully.
