Seamless Hoops & Rings

The hoop with nothing on it: no ball, no bead, no hinge, just a clean circle that twists open sideways and twists closed into an invisible join. Plain annealed steel, black, gold and rainbow finishes, braided and gem-set styles, and solid 14k gold, in 20G and 18G for the nostril and 16G for septum and cartilage. Since 1999.

Seamless Ring Fit & Twist Guide

Fit: match the gauge your piercing takes. 20G and 18G are nostril, helix and tragus; 16G is septum, daith and cartilage; 14G is stretched piercings and the solid-gold pieces. Diameter is the inside width: 1/4 inch (6mm) hugs tight, 5/16 inch (8mm) fits most people, 3/8 inch (10mm) hangs a touch lower. When in doubt, go snug.

The twist: hold each side of the join and twist sideways like a key ring, one end toward you and one away. Slide it through, twist back until the ends meet flush, done. Never pull the ends apart; that widens the circle and it will not close clean again. Annealed steel is heat-softened exactly so this twist works by hand without springing back.

Seamless is a healed-piercing hoop: it takes a little pressure to open and close, so keep your starter jewelry in until your piercer clears you. Want the same clean look with an easier swap? A hinged segment ring clicks shut with no twisting.

FAQ

One continuous hoop with no ball, no bead and no hinge: the ends simply meet. You twist the ring open sideways to put it in and twist it back so the join disappears. It is the most minimal hoop made for a piercing.

Hold each side of the join and twist sideways, like opening a key ring (one end toward you, one away). Slide it through, then twist back the same way until the ends meet flush. Never pull the ends apart; that widens the circle and it will not close clean again.

Annealing is a heat treatment that softens the steel just enough to twist open and closed by hand without springing back. It is still 316L surgical steel; the colors on it are anodized or IP finishes bonded to the metal.

Match the gauge your piercing takes: 20G and 18G for nostril, helix and tragus; 16G for septum, daith and cartilage; 14G for stretched or solid-gold pieces. Diameter is the inside width: 1/4 inch (6mm) hugs tight, 5/16 inch (8mm) fits most, 3/8 inch (10mm) hangs a touch lower. Every product page lists both numbers.

Wait until your piercer clears you. Opening and closing a seamless ring takes a little pressure on the piercing, so it is a healed-piercing hoop. Keep the starter jewelry in until then, and if you want an easier swap meanwhile, a hinged segment ring does the same look with a click.

Not when the ends meet flush. The tension of the metal holds the join closed through normal wear. If yours spins open, it was likely pulled apart instead of twisted; close it with the sideways twist until the ends line up and it will hold.
