Solid 14k Gold Barbells

The most gold you can put through a piercing: solid 14k straight barbells, bar and ends, yellow or white, in the 14G that tongue and nipple piercings take. Internally threaded and threadless, plain gold balls or CZ-set ends, made in small runs because a gold bar is a lot of gold. Not plated. Since 1999.

Gold Barbell Fit & Care Guide

Fit: tongue and nipple barbells are 14G. A healed tongue usually wears 9/16 inch (14mm), sometimes 5/8 inch; the long bar your piercer used for swelling is not the bar you keep, and downsizing it protects your teeth and gums. Nipples take 9/16 inch for most people and 5/8 inch for a roomier fit, with a little space at each end. Match the gauge and length you wear now; both are on every product page, and at this price point you never guess.

Threading matters more in gold: internally threaded bars keep the post smooth and the thread inside the ball, and threadless ends press in and hold by tension, so nothing scrapes the piercing, nothing traps gunk in the mouth, and you are never forcing a soft gold thread. Yellow 14k is nickel-free; white-gold alloys vary by piece, so nickel-sensitive skin chooses yellow or asks first.

Care: thread ends on by hand, never with pliers, and pull a threadless end straight out rather than twisting. Rinse after eating or swimming; a soft cloth brings the shine back, and solid gold does not tarnish. Some pieces are made to order in our own gold department in Buffalo, New York. Buy-one-get-two promotions do not apply to 14k gold; the price is the price.

More gold, more bars:

FAQ

Yes. Every barbell on this page is solid 14k gold, bar and ends, yellow or white, and the title says so. Nothing here is plated or gold-tone; those live on their own pages. A straight barbell carries more metal than almost any other piece of body jewelry, which is why the price reads the way it does.

Both are 14G. A healed tongue usually wears 9/16 inch (14mm), sometimes 5/8 inch; the extra-long bar your piercer used for swelling is not the bar you keep, and downsizing it is non-negotiable for your teeth and gums. Nipples take 9/16 inch for most people, 5/8 inch for a roomier fit, with a little space at each end. Match the gauge and length you wear now; both are on every product page.

Either beats external threads, especially in the mouth: with internal threading the post is smooth and the thread lives inside the ball, so nothing scrapes the piercing and nothing traps gunk; threadless ends press in and hold by tension, with no threads at all. In gold, both also protect the soft metal: you are never forcing a gold thread. Thread ends on by hand, and pull a threadless end straight out rather than twisting.

Solid, nickel-free 14k gold is one of the metals the piercing industry accepts for body jewelry, and yellow 14k has no nickel in it; white-gold alloys vary, so ask about a specific piece if you are nickel-sensitive. Two tongue-specific notes: let the piercing heal and the swelling settle on your piercer's starter before you swap, and do not click gold against your teeth; gold is softer than steel, but enamel still loses.

Because a solid gold straight bar is a lot of gold, and we make them in small runs rather than stocking them deep. What is here is the real thing: 14G straight barbells with solid gold ball ends, a CZ-set version, an internally threaded tongue bar and a bezel-set nipple set. For gold with less metal in it, the gold nose, lip and earring pages are where the depth is.

Gold is priced as gold: buy-one-get-two promotions do not apply to 14k, and the price you see is the price. Some pieces are made to order in our own gold department in Buffalo, New York, and ship a little slower than steel. Care: thread ends on by hand, never with pliers; rinse after eating or swimming; a soft cloth brings the shine back. Solid gold does not tarnish.
