Belly Button Piercing Sizing & Materials 101

Nearly every belly button piercing is done at 14 gauge (14G) with a curved barbell — that's the standard, and it's what almost everything in this collection fits. The most common bar length is 3/8" to 7/16", so if your current ring sits comfortably, just match its size and you're set.

Real talk: skip the ultra-thin "skinny" belly rings you'll see elsewhere. Jewelry that's too thin can migrate and irritate your piercing. A true 14G bar is what your piercer would tell you to wear — so that's what we sell.

Worried about sensitive skin? Implant-grade titanium (ASTM F136) is naturally nickel-free and hypoallergenic — no itch, no redness, no green skin — and solid 14k gold gives you the real thing, not plating. Looking for something specific?

FAQ

The standard belly button ring is14 gauge (14G) with a curved barbell, and the most common bar length is 3/8" to 7/16". If you already wear a belly ring that fits well, match its gauge and length and you're good. When in doubt, 14G × 3/8" is the safe everyday pick.

Plan on6 to 9 months, sometimes longer — the navel is the slowest-healing common piercing, and it heals in ups and downs (great one week, cranky the next). Keep your starter jewelry in until it's fully healed, and go easy on sit-ups and high waistbands while it settles.

Implant-grade titanium (ASTM F136)— it's naturally nickel-free, hypoallergenic, and super lightweight, which is why piercers recommend it.Solid 14k gold is another skin-friendly pick. If nickel has ever made your skin angry, those two are your answer.

Not if you're wearing the right metal. Implant-grade titanium and solid 14k gold don't turn skin green — that's what happens with cheap plated mystery metal after the coating wears off. Every product page lists exactly what the piece is made of, so you know before you buy.

Yes! Swap your metal barbell for a flexible pregnancy belly ring— made from soft, bendable plastic (like PTFE/Bioplast) that flexes with your growing belly instead of pressing into it. Check out ourPregnancy Belly Rings— many moms wear them right up to delivery.

Once your piercing is fully healed: wash your hands, hold the bottom of the barbell, and unscrew the top ball (righty-tighty, lefty-loosey). Slide the old bar out from the top, insert the new one from below, and screw the ball back on until snug. Never force it — and if it's a dangle style, the charm hangs from the bottom ball, so the swap works exactly the same way.
