Tongue piercings - what can you expect?

👉 Expect Swelling & Soreness Early

The first few days are the toughest - swelling, tenderness, extra saliva, and minor bleeding are normal.

👉 Stick to Soft, Cool Foods

Smoothies, yogurt, and milkshakes are your friends; avoid spicy, hot, or acidic foods.

👉 Rinse Gently

Use sterile saline or alcohol-free mouthwash after meals. Harsh products slow healing.

👉 Hands Off Your Jewelry

Twisting or playing with it can irritate tissue and delay healing.

👉 White Tissue Is Normal

Light-colored areas around the piercing are often healing tissue, not infection.

👉 Watch Your Bite

Avoid accidentally biting your jewelry. Be cautious when eating.

👉 Keep Jewelry In

Even if healed, the hole can close quickly. Don’t remove it without guidance.

👉 Know the Red Flags

Severe swelling, intense pain, foul discharge, or fever can indicate infection- seek medical advice.
