Tis’ the season… for weddings of course! I’m not sure if it’s my age or the time of year, but I have never been invited to more weddings in such a short amount of time. I attended two weddings in August, two in September so far, and I have two more to go! Although weddings are always a great time, six in two months is a little bit crazy.
After all the hard work that goes into planning, the money spent on preparation and mix of emotions along the way, when the day finally arrives I can only imagine the feeling. Hoping that everything goes smoothly, your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life. Here are a few ideas that I loved at the weddings I attended:
Outside weddings are beautiful. Getting married in the fresh air and dancing under the stars all night is a fairy tale. However, I would be nervous about the weather planning it so far in advance. I guess you just have to make the best of it, rain or shine. The outside wedding that I went to had perfect weather, a gorgeous bride, and a night full of fun!
I’m always amazed by the centerpieces at weddings. They are so gorgeous. While most of the ones I’ve seen have been beautiful flower arrangements, the last wedding I attended had a live fish in a lit up bowl in the middle of every table! …Now I have a new pet named Marvin.
Other cute ideas:
1. Candy bar. Two of the weddings I went to had a station set up with all different types and flavors of candy, which came in handy when we needed to re-up on sugar after dancing so much!
2. Photo booths are also becoming popular at weddings. At one of the ones I went to, they had costumes (wigs, clothes, glasses) set out for people to dress up in. You could take as many funny pictures as you wanted! After you were done, you kept one copy for yourself and put one in a scrap book for the bride and groom along with a little message. By the end of the night, people were getting a little crazy with the photo booth… Well, at least the new couple will have good memories!
3. While dancing is an essential part of weddings, us girls are usually in pain by the second song. Those stilettos get ya every time! Next to the dance floor there was a basket of flip flops with a sign that said “kick off your shoes and dance!” I thought this was a great idea and I definitely took advantage of it.
You never really realize how much work goes into a wedding until you’re in one. Well, by September 1st… I most definitely realized it. My best friend of 10 years got married and I was a bridesmaid! Between dress fittings, bachelorette parties, wedding invites and the other thousand things that go into planning a wedding, we sure were busy.

I wanted to do something special for the bridesmaids so I thought hmm… well I work at a totally awesome jewelry company and we do need jewelry for our dresses… perfect! There were so many options to choose from between dangle earrings, stunning necklaces, bracelets and rings. I loved every piece we looked at but the bride has a more simple taste and what she wants, she gets. In addition, it wasn’t an over-the-top fancy wedding. We decided on a sterling silver, cubic zirconia, single pendant necklace. Since the necklace was handcrafted by Joyce (our brilliant jewelry designer) she cut the necklaces to each bridesmaids preferred length. It worked out perfectly and everyone loved them!
This weekend I’m off to Kentucky for my cousins wedding! With an 18 person bridal party and over 300 guests, I imagine it’s going to be a good one. A mixture of family, friends, music and drinks is a guaranteed fun time.
