The Tea: Answering Top Piercing Questions Sent In By You!
Hey Body Candy Fam!
Hello all! Welcome to The Tea - it's my weekly, every-Thursday vlog where I talk about piercings, body mods, piercing questions, tattoos, and anything else that might be on my mind. I'm Alley by the way - if it's your first time here, nice to meet you!
Today I'm answering some super common piercing-related questions that multiple Body Candy customers sent my way. I'm calling this one Top Piercing Questions Sent In By You because I'm hoping to answer a bunch of peoples' questions at once.
I hope y'all like this idea - if so, I'll do some more top questions themed videos in the future!
Today's Questions:
- "Can I wear body jewelry during an MRI?"
Quick answer: Yes! Well, most of the time. Although it's usually safe, we always recommend listening to your doctor or any medical professional during any medical procedure. If they say take out your jewelry, that's what we recommend!
- "Can I keep my belly ring during pregnancy?"
Quick answer: Yes! We even make special bioplast pregnancy belly ring retainers for just such an occasion. They can be trimmed to fit any baby bump for maximum comfort while your little one is growing inside of you.
- "Will my jewelry set off a metal detector?"
Quick answer: No! I just got done traveling (and let me assure you, I'm full of metal). None of my jewelry set off a metal detector, and none of my jewelry inside my suitcase was flagged as suspicious. If you're still feeling strange, opt for a bioplast retainer for comfy travel.
Make sure you watch my video for my thorough answers :)

Obviously, getting pierced comes along with at least some sort of discomfort. Having a needle pushed into your body is going to sting on some level, no matter what your pain tolerance. But even established piercings can have their hiccups... including pain. You might ask yourself, "Why Does My Piercing Hurt?" There are a few reasons why even an older piercing might start to suddenly ache. It could be that you have suddenly developed a sensitivity to materials (this happens to people from time to time), which can be solved by simply wearing a piece of jewelry made of a more "inert" metal like titanium or a biocompatible material like bioplast. Maybe you bumped, snagged, or slept on it wrong. In the worst case scenario, you may be experiencing an infection or a piercing rejection. Either way, if you've ever wondered why your piercing hurts out of nowhere, we put together a little blog to help you figure out a few reasons why. Remember - these blogs should only be considered a stepping stone and not a diagnostic tool. If you're experiencing pain in your piercing, it's time to schedule an in-person consult with a pro!
Now, let's talk jewelry! I want to open up with one of our classic collections, Opal Love. Opals are some of the most brilliant and fantastic stones to make body jewelry with, and for good reason. An opal belly ring is going to sparkle in the sun beachside and our best-selling opal earrings are an amazing way to emphasize the rest of your ear. Next, let's talk about Bees! Our bee body jewelry collection is steadily growing - bees are a super important part of our ecosystem and environment, and beyond that, they're super cute. For an extremely summertime look, get one on a septum ring or some nipple rings today. Finally, I'm bringing back an old favorite - Moon body jewelry. The moon is an omnipresent figure in our sky, but it's also an aesthetically pleasing subject for body jewelry. Moon stuff looks good on anyone - snag a moon industrial bar, a moon cartilage earring, or a dangle belly button ring with a moon on it today.
Thank you so much for hanging out with me for The Tea! Believe it or not, I actually get a lot of questions from Body Candy babes all over the world, and I needed some more outlets to help you with your pierced/modified qualms. That's why I started my Dear Alley column - it's my every-Saturday chance to answer specific questions that get sent my way. Are you worried about your belly button ring? Have you been thinking about getting a septum piercing but need an extra push? Is your helix piercing acting up? Let me help point you in the right direction. Send an email to DearAlley@bodycandy.com - I answer three (3) questions every week!
It's officially our last call for April monthly clubs! April's pieces are incredible, some of my favorites yet, and I hope you don't miss out (check them out now if you haven't already). What is the Body Candy Monthly Club? It's a group of pierced/modified people who want to keep their collection growing with fresh jewelry options available every month. If you're someone who likes to change up your look every day or for special occasions, this is the club for you. We've even got a club for just about every piercing: belly rings; nipple rings; industrial bars; septum rings; nose rings; labret rings; tongue rings; septum/daith rings; and cartilage studs. Make sure you snag your April monthly club before it's too late!
