The Tea: Taking a Professional Photo With Your Phone
Hey Body Candy Babes!
Happy Thursday bbs :)! Thanks as always for joining me for my weekly e-zine, The Tea.
I'm not a professional photographer by any means, but I find myself taking lots of pictures with my phone... That got me thinking - even though I'm not using a pro set up, I've figured out a couple ways to make my pictures pop.
Not sure if you've noticed, but jewelry is tough to photograph! I have so many sparkly and shimmery pieces that I want to show off, but getting that same beauty to appear in a picture is easier said than done. Opals are a big offender - they are so so SO beautiful and iridescent, trying to capture that same magic is almost impossible. Same with some of my CZ (cubic zirconia) stuff; those gems are meant to sparkle and shine, but getting that prism to gleam in just the right way can be tough!
That's why this week, I'm offering up a few of my simple Alley tips on how to take a good picture. Let's be real - most of us are using our phones to take pics these days. Whether you're selfie-ing HARD or trying to take a pic of your brand new nipple rings in your hand (since you can't post that stuff on social media), there are a few little tips and tricks you can use to make sure your pictures turn out crisp.
First and foremost - GO OUTSIDE! Y'all know I love hanging out with little bugs and critters, but the sun is actually really great lighting for pics. Stand with your back to the sun and set up a qt little scene with a coaster and a tiny little wildflower... Let the sun illuminate your jewelry and snap away - I promise, it works! If you see any bumblebees while you're out and about, let them know Alley says hi :).
Indoor pictures are cool too! Take your little place setting inside and set it up next to a window during the day. There's no substitute for the sun when it comes to lighting... But there's also no substitute for AC and privacy (especially if you're trying to snap a nipple bar pic)! If you're a night owl, try out a cheap ring light for your jewelry pics - it works for me :).
I'm gonna be talking shop about picture taking during FB Live tomorrow... We have some cute new jewelry to check out and of course showing off some of our favorite best sellers! I'm looking forward to hanging out with y'all - let's chit chat about piercings and forget about the world for a bit while we dive into some fun body jewelry! Come hang ladies - tomorrow (Friday) at 1pm EST!
Happy 'gramming, babes!

This week is all about jewelry that photographs well, especially in the sun! Collection one is a bunch of beautiful body jewelry pieces with a dangle element - dangly stuff adds just a little bit of visual excitement to your piercings, and that little bit of wiggling can really catch the sun in just the right way. Collection two is full of pieces that feature a fierce sparkle - the sun will catch these crystal-blasted pieces in just the right way (but be careful showing off your nipple bars in public :P). Finally, an old standby - opal love! There's nothing like a fiery opal to bring a little pop of color to your piercings.
In case my Alley blog wasn't enough for you, make sure you check out our Body Jewelry Blog! This week is all about utilizing your phone to take a good pic - we went a lot more in depth in THIS post. if you're looking for a bit more information, our Body Jewelry Blog posts brand new stuff every week... We've got lots of fun blogs, live piercing experiences, and FB Live content going up all the time.
Last but not least, my weekly reminder that it's always a good time to sign up for our monthly subscription packages. We've got a club for just about everyone - belly rings, nipple rings, septum rings, nose rings, industrial bars, cartilage, and more :).
