The Tea: Navigating a Piercing "No," Pt. 2 (Belly)
Hey Body Candy Fam!
Happy day Body Candy babes! Alley here with another fancy edition of The Tea, my weekly vlog where we discuss piercings, body jewelry, tattoos, piercing aftercare, and pretty much anything else you can think of in the world of body mods.
Our first edition of "Navigating a Piercing 'No'" about the forward helix piercing went really well. It's time for our next edition, this time about belly button piercings. Part of having body jewelry is understanding that each of our individual bodies are different... including our bodies' unique limitations. Regardless of size, age, or shape, we're not all great candidates for a navel piercing... But that doesn't mean you have to give up on being pierced.
Let's talk about the belly button piercing and why your professional piercer might have to say "no" to giving you this iconic mod. I've also got some practical solutions for still getting a piercing that will look great. Watch my video to learn more!
Today's topics:
- A belly button piercing is a piercing located in the skin surrounding your navel. There are several variations of this piercing, including the top, bottom, and sides of the navel, and they are sometimes pierced in pairs.
- You might be told "no" to a belly button piercing for several reasons... You might have scar tissue from a surgery, pregnancy, or previous piercing. You might also have a belly that folds over the navel (which would make you a bad candidate for healing)
- Before you get pierced, have your professional piercer take a look at your navel. If they tell you "no," don't bounce around from piercer to piercer until you get an answer you like! They said no for a reason - this will save you lots of pain and discomfort in the long run.
- Turning the no into a yes: instead of a "traditional" top-mount belly ring, you might be able to get your lower navel pierced, the sides of your navel pierced, or a surface/dermal piercing somewhere around your navel. Alternatively, a dangly belly ring makes a great substitute for dangly nipple rings if you're unable to have your nipples pierced.
