How Do You Find a Good Piercer?

Having just gotten some fresh ink, the topic of tattoo/piercing shops are top of mind. Today, we'll talk a bit about ways that you can evaluate a piercer to know if they're a good fit for you.

Look for APP (Association of Professional Piercers) Certification - APP is an organization that is dedicated to health and safety when it comes to getting modded. This shows the shop/piercer is dedicated to continued piercing education
If a piercer isn't APP certified, that's ok too! There are other things to consider as well
- Cleanliness: Is the shop clean? Do you see an autoclave? Are the piercers/tattoo artists using gloves? Are there animals running around lol? Pay attention to your surroundings!
- Is the piercer kind and informative? Do they make you feel comfortable when you enter the shop? Attitude is important. Huge red flag if they’re pressuring you in any way.
- Check out their portfolio - Instagram, Facebook, other social media. Do the piercings look good? If they don’t look good in the photo, they probably won’t look great when healed.
