How can you get the perfect nose ring fit?
Ever have trouble finding just the right nose ring?
From nose bones to hoops, today Kyra will be talking about nose ring sizing and how to get the perfect fit.
Gauge - this is the thickness of the hoop or the post. Nose rings can vary based on your aesthetic but are generally 22 gauge (0.6mm) at the smallest, 20 gauge (0.8mm) most commonly, or 18 gauge (1.0mm) at the thickest.
Length - a stud or a corkscrew are usually going to be about 6mm however this can vary depending on the thickness of your nostril. It can range from 5 to 7mm.
Diameter - is the distance between the inside edges of a nose hoop. In the video, Kyra is wearing an 8mm diameter hoop for a snug fit. These can go up to 10mm which is the most common
Styles - the most common nose ring styles are the corkscrew and the L shaped nose ring but you can also get fishtail, bone, and hoop style nose jewelry.
Gem sizing - Some nose studs have a gem at the end which come in varying sizes from 1.5mm, 2mm, and 2.5mm. This is usually a personal preference thing, depending on whether you'd like a daintier look or a bolder look.
Troubleshooting:
If your jewelry seems loose, perhaps it's time to reevaluate the length you're buying. You may need to size down.
If you have a corkscrew nose piercing, you may be able to see a bit of the jewelry coming out of the bottom of your nostril. You might want to consider trying a nose bone style instead of a corkscrew style nose ring.
If your nose ring isn't fitting quite right your piercer can measure your nose and custom fit a piece of jewelry for you.
