The Tea: Healing Time Guidelines for Piercings

Welcome back to my every-Thursday e-zine, The Tea!
Piercings are great and all... But you have to remember, they are open wounds! As a needle passes through your body, it damages the tissue... Certain bodily tissues heal faster than others, and that's what we're discussing today.
Today's topics:
- 4 weeks - At just a month in length (give or take), the tongue piercing is the fastest-healing piercing.
- 6-8 weeks - Earlobe, septum, eyebrow, labret, and philtrum piercings fall under this time frame.
- 6 months - 1 year - Most other piercings fall into this healing time frame, including: nipple piercings, navel piercings, ear cartilage, industrial bars, and nostril piercings.
- Varying timeframes - Some piercings, like dermals and various surface piercings, take up to a year to heal up. Some never truly heal due to their high-traffic locations. Talk to your piercer for more information about these.
- Last but not least, keep in mind that everyone's body is different! These times can also be affected by other factors like bumps, stress, snags, and pressures.
