Wishing everyone lots of peace and love. Let's talk piercings.
Today's topics: - Ever see a little piercing right in the middle of someone's chest? A little sparkly gem next to your eye? You're seeing a dermal piercing, today's topic! - Dermals are little gems that are held in place with an "anchor" inside your skin. Because of this, you can technically get a dermal piercing almost anywhere! - Dermals are inserted by making a little slice in the skin and inserting the anchor inside your body. These are considered "single entry" piercings, as there is no "exit" for the other side of the jewelry. - Think about high-traffic areas before you get a piercing. For example - fingers... Think about putting your hands in your pockets and washing your hands and how that might be complicated by a healing dermal. - Note: dermals have a higher tendency to reject, so keep this in mind if you decide to get them done.
Part of having piercings is showing them off... And with the advent of smart phones, almost everyone has an amazing camera in their pocket at all times. Most first impressions are made via your online presence, and that's why it's so important to get your picture taking skills up to speed. There are different tactics for indoor photos, outdoor photos, dim rooms, bright rooms, sunny days, and cloudy days... It's a lot to take in, but we've got you covered. Since taking selfies is a big part of rocking body jewelry, we wrote up a helpful guide to looking your best in all of your pics - check out "Six Tips For Taking Amazing Photos and Videos."
Speaking of taking good photos, the first step before you get your camera out should be to prep your skin. Dull and dry skin will make your skin appear lackluster - so we recommend an application of Christopher David Vitamin C Serum. Using Christopher David Serum before your photos will amplify your skin's brightness, guard against sun damage if you're taking pics outside, and help eliminate dark circles. A gem that looks AMAZING in pictures is the opal - it's full of shimmery and fiery flecks that will catch the sun in many different ways. Our collection of opal goodies is massive, so make sure you swing by that collection and snag something amazing. Last but not least, we just re-upped our stock of matte body jewelry. We literally cannot keep these on the shelf, so if you've been holding out for a sweet new matte piece, now's the time. Check them all out via the cool collections above.
This week's episode of The Tea was actually inspired by last week's edition of Dear Alley. Every week's episode of The Tea is dedicated to something fun that's piercing/modded related, and it always brings up more and more questions from Body Candy Customers. If you have a question or you want to reach out for some Alley advice, I have a SECOND column on Saturdays called Dear Alley. Send an email to DearAlley@bodycandy.com if you want me to read and answer. I choose three of your questions every week to answer!
