Piercing Experience: Caitlin's Triple Lobe Piercing

Today is a special day at Body Candy, Caitlin has decided to get THREE brand new piercings - a triple earlobe piercing, all in one shot!

First, James begins by cleaning up the piercing location. In this case, he's cleaning Caitlin's earlobe and the surrounding area to make sure it’s completely sterile and ready to be pierced. Don't forget - having a clean piercing site is a very important part of any piercing experience, and should happen at every appointment!

Next, the holes for Caitlin's three piercings are mapped out. James explains that he’ll be drawing a dot to line up the piercings - for Caitlin, it's three dots on her earlobe. These dots help professional piercers (like James) make straight and accurate piercings, and gives the client a preliminary chance to see what their new piercings are going to look like. Caitlin takes a look in the mirror and gives the go-ahead.

Next, James uses a pair of clamps to hold Caitlin's ear. With a deep breath and a countdown of three, two, one... James pushes the first needle in through the back of Caitlin's ear. The needle is corked for safety to prevent any accidental pinpricks, and a simple stud earring goes into the fresh piercing. He repeats this process two more times with the same process - clamps, needle, cork, jewelry. Not even a flinch from Caitlin.

Last but not least, James cleans up all three piercing sites to make sure Caitlin leaves the shop in tip top shape. All three of Caitlin's brand new ear piercings are good to go!

Body Candy: Hi Caitlin! What piercing did you get today and what made you want to get it?

Caitlin: I got three upper lobe piercings. Honestly, the Mary Queen of Scots film with Saoirse Ronan made me want to get it done - I love the look of her multiple lobe piercings.

BC: Can you describe your experience at the shop today?

Caitlin: I was very comfortable at the shop. James was very clear with what he was doing and explained all of the reasoning behind each step. He also talked throughout the appointment which kept me calm.

BC: What made you want body mods or what do you love about being a modified individual?

Caitlin: I've always loved having piercings, they are a way to express yourself with placement and different body jewelry. It's also a great bonding moment when you meet someone that's also pierced!

BC: On a scale of 1-10, how painful was your piercing?

Caitlin: A 2.5. It's always going to hurt a bit, but it's all about breathing though it!

BC: What kind of jewelry are you planning to wear in the future?

Caitlin: Fitted hoops the whole way down!
