The most common and basic type of labret jewelry is the screw-on tip labret.  There are two general styles in this type that will have a ball tip, (which can be inset with a gem, made of acrylic with designs or sparkles, or just plain metallic,) or a spike of similar style.  The larger the tip is, the easier it will be to handle and put on and off, but tips in this style can be anywhere from 2 to 6 millimeters in diameter.

In close second comes the push-in style labret.  These are what they sound like; a hollow post with a decorative tip that pushes in to secure the item in place.

The three most common styles here will have a crystal or gem tip, a dangling piece, or a logo of some kind.

Then there’s the more stylized types of labret, like the claw or “disturbed” labret, earning it’s name from the rock band Disturbed, whose lead singer David Draiman popularized the style.  These are a long hook or talon shaped decoration that comes down over the chin and can be made from natural material, glass, titanium, or stainless steel.

Also in this grouping is the lippy loop, a C-shaped barbell with decorative tips at both ends that protrude through the labret piercing itself and then come up over the bottom lip.

Though there are several styles of labret piercing jewelry out there, these basic, comfortable types are easily available and provide an almost endless array of fashionable options.
