Gauge - this term refers to the thickness of a piece of jewelry. It applies to almost every piece of body jewelry. One of the most common places you've probably heard it used is in reference to ear stretching.
Gold Toned - there is a difference between "gold" and "gold toned." Gold toned means that the jewelry has been plated in a gold color material, usually comprised of stainless steel. Steel is pretty hypoallergenic in most cases so is easily worn by most people.
Anodized - this is an electromagnetic treatment of a piece of jewelry. Changing the voltage actually changes the color of the jewelry. This means the jewelry isn't coated and the color is literally a part of the metal. You can get almost any color of the rainbow using this technique. Cubic Zirconia - this sparkly clear gem looks an awful lot like a diamond without the HUGE price tag. It is a synthetic gemstone made from zirconium dioxide and it can come in tons of colors and shapes. Honestly, if you can't afford a diamond, it's a pretty great substitution!
