The Tea: Traveling Unexpectedly as a Pierced Person
Hey Body Candy Fam!
What's up?! It's me, Alley, here for another edition of my weekly Thursday e-zine, The Tea. It's my chance to talk about whatever's on my mind - usually piercing or tattoo related. If it's your first time joining us, we do this every week... I hope to see you back soon!
I unexpectedly had to travel this week, so I thought it might be fun to talk a little bit about what I brought (and what I didn't bring). Being a pierced person while traveling isn't always the most convenient situation... What jewelry do you bring? What jewelry do you avoid? How much is too much?
Let's take a deep dive into what I remembered and didn't remember for my little unexpected trip!
What I remembered:
- Teardrop Glass Plugs: these are the absolute BEST basics for my stretched ears. I always make sure to grab a pair of the clear ones and a pair of the black ones. They're perfect in a pinch and they match with everything.
- Makeup Subscription Bags: Ok, if you're anything like me, you'll have a ton of these cute little bags hanging around your house... They are actually amazing for keeping your small jewelry together and in one place. Stuff a microfiber cloth in there too, just in case you need a quick polish!
- Basics: I brought lots of basics with me, for (most of) my piercings! I remembered some septum rings and some cartilage earrings just in case... But I forgot to bring ANY belly rings, which is very unlike me!
What else I forgot:
Bracelets: I remembered a watch... But otherwise my arm feels so naked!
Weights: I can't believe I forgot my weights! I have lots of statement ear pieces that I love to wear in social situations... Hopefully I remember next time!

Have you ever seen a piercing in the middle of the upper lip? You're looking at a medusa piercing, also known as a philtrum piercing. Once considered a niche body piercing, the medusa has experienced a surge in popularity. It's certainly a statement piece, mostly because of its location in the middle of the face, directly above the mouth (which is a natural focus point for your eyes). Although it's an absolutely beautiful piercing, it can be a very intimidating prospect to get a mod in such a sensitive place. If you've been thinking about getting a medusa piercing yourself but aren't sure what to expect, we've got you covered! We asked five (5) trusted Body Candy customers what their medusa piercing experience was like. Some of them though it hurt, some didn't... But just knowing how they feel and felt before, during, and after their experience can go a long way toward feeling better yourself. Check out this week's blog - What Does It Feel Like To Get A Medusa Piercing?
Jewelry time! As always, our New Arrivals collection is an amazing way to start any Body Candy viewing experience. That collection shows EVERYTHING we've recently uploaded to the site, including new and fun releases and also old favorites that have been restocked into our warehouse. You'll see lots of spring flowers, natural stone plugs, and versatile basics if you swing by now! Let's talk about bees too... It's currently SNOWING in my hometown of Buffalo... And I so badly want it to be warm out again. Part of the warm weather is enjoying the pleasant buzz of little bees doing their business... But they also make amazing body jewelry pieces. Our bee collection is amazing, so check that out now. Last but not least, I wanted to show off our Kitty Cat collection! Everyone loves cats... And if you don't, you should! We've got an amazing selection for you to show off your love for kitties - think cat belly rings, cat nipple rings, and much more.
The Tea is fun and all... Ok it's actually my favorite time of the week. But I actually LOVE getting the chance to answer your questions in my other column, Dear Alley. The cool thing about the pierced/modified community... You're never alone. There's probably someone else out there who is having the same issue with their piercing or piercing aftercare. If you've got a question that's been nagging at you, send me an email to DearAlley@bodycandy.com. Every week, I choose three (3) questions and answer them on Saturdays. Write me an email now - maybe you'll be featured in an upcoming week!
March monthly clubs are going fast! This is one of our most beautiful collections to date and I hope you all feel the same. Have you heart about our monthly clubs? Every month we put together special collections for several different piercing styles. Each club comes with three (3) exclusive body jewelry pieces for you to wear and enjoy. This is perfect for keeping your collection fresh and exciting while simultaneously growing your collection. If you have a belly button ring; a nose ring; a cartilage piercing; an industrial bar; a labret piercing; a tongue piercing; a septum or daith piercing; or a nipple piercing - check them out now!
