The Tea: Summer Piercing Advice

Hey y'all! It's me, Alley, back for another fun edition of The Tea... Served to you hot! Extra hot actually, I'm in my greenhouse this week. It's nice and toasty in here :)
Speaking of HOT - today we're going to talk about getting pierced in the summertime. It's always a great time to get pierced in my opinion, but there are lots of things to keep in mind before you head out to get modded this summer. Stuff you might not realize until it's too late!
Nobody wants to choose between summer fun and the health of their brand new piercing. Here's a quick rundown of what you should consider before you get a new piercing in the upcoming months.
Today's Topics:
- How active are you? If you like to surf, run around on the beach, play in the ocean, swim in the creek, play volleyball in the sand... It might not be the best time to get a new piercing!
- Getting Your Piercings Wet: Navel piercings cannot be soaked or submerged in water. If you're planning on swimming in the pool, at the beach, or relaxing in a hot tub, you should maybe postpone your belly button piercing appointment until the fall!
- Above the neck piercings: Not an athlete? Me either! If you're not planning on going underwater or playing sports, the summertime is actually a good time to invest in an above-the-neck piercing. It's common to wear your hair up in the summertime, making it ideal for ear cartilage piercings to get some snag-free heal time.
- Allergies: Ugh, summer allergies are the WORST! If you and pollen aren't getting along, it might not be the best time to get a nostril or septum piercing due to all the nose blowing. Save those for the winter (unless you get sniffly then, too)!

Have you ever had an issue with your nose ring falling out? You're not alone! Nose rings are one of the most common mods, but certain styles tend to go missing, even when you feel they're securely in your nose. If you've been wondering what the best style of nose jewelry is, that's more of a personal preference kind of thing... But there actually are types of nose jewelry that will stay securely in place more than others. For example: any sort of hoop, think seamless rings, segment rings, and BCRs, form a complete circle that will stay in your nose no matter what. Another super secure type of jewelry is a horseshoe ring, which comes equipped with two balls at either end that are too big to go through any nose piercing hole. When it comes to nose studs, you might have better luck with an l-shaped nose ring or a spiral nose ring than a simple nose bone... But again, personal preference is what matters most here.
