The Tea: My Piercing Journey
Hey Body Candy Fam!
Welcome to my weekly e-zine, The Tea! Coming at you with another at-home version of The Tea today.
As we're all sitting around at home trying to stay busy, I was thinking it might be a good time to tell some stories... And since we're all about body mods here at Body Candy - I'm gonna tell you all my piercing journey.
Looking forward to hearing yours too!
Today's topics:
- Current Setup - I currently have: stretched ears, a tragus, a septum, a double nostril, a single nostril, and a belly button ring.
- Difficulties - I have tiny lobes, so stretching up to my current size (00) was a real challenge! I used lots of earlobe massages, warm showers, the tape method for sizing up, and plenty of vitamin e oil to keep my ears in good shape.
- Easiest/Hardest piercing - The easiest one to get and heal up was my septum piercing - it barely hurt at all! The hardest piercing for me was my high nostril - it just never quite wanted to heal.
- RIP - Along the way, I've lost a helix piercing, a pair of snake bites, and my high nostril piercings... They were fun while they lasted!
- Future Plans - I'd love to get a medusa piercing and a conch piercing someday... And maybe get my high nostrils redone!

Talking about all of my mods has got me thinking about what I like to wear in them jewelry-wise! One of my favorite finishes is matte body jewelry - there's just something classy about a matte finish - when I'm feeling like I need to look a bit more sophisticated, I pop in a matte piece and off I go! On the other hand, when I'm feeling a bit more laid back, I'm more apt to put in a piece from our mermaid life collection... We have shimmery scales, cutie crabs, and lots more under-the-sea stuff for any babes looking for that beachy look. Last but not least, I am still using our Christopher David Vitamin C serum in my day to day routine. It's making my skin AMAZING, especially when I use it after a hot, steamy shower.
Speaking of getting pierced... I know we're all stuck at home for the most part, but that doesn't mean we're not all planning our new mods. The thing is, there are so many different options out there when it comes to body jewelry, it can be hard to know what's best to get pierced with so you heal up quickly and easily. For this week's blog, we wrote - "What Jewelry Should I Get Pierced With?" Your professional piercer should definitely know this information by the back of their hand... But if you go into the shop expecting to leave with a dainty, dangly industrial bar, you might leave a bit disappointed! We're here to help you brush up on your piercing health safety.
While you're drumming up your own piercing journey, if you think of a question or comment you want to pass along, my Dear Alley segment is a perfect time to put it into words. ICYMI, Dear Alley is Body Candy's weekly column where I do my best to answer your pierced/modded questions. I get emails from BC bbs all week, then on Saturday, I choose three of my favorites. If you have something you need answered, compose something nice and shoot it over to DearAlley@bodycandy.com! Who knows, if your question is fun, cute, or informative, you might get your very own Alley advice! Dear Alley is just one of our various e-mail and blog segments that we keep up weekly on the Body Jewelry Blog. If you like The Tea, Dear Alley, and our Facebook LIVE series, come back every week!
Hopefully, if you have the piercings in question, y'all have signed up for our new clubs! In April we introduced two amazing new Monthly Club Subscriptions - the Tongue Ring Club and also a super affordable Vitamin C Serum club! Tongue rings are super fun, but can also be super hard to find... So we'll send you 3 fun new tongue rings every month. The same goes for any of our other monthly clubs. Even our Vitamin C Serum club! For those who don't know, the Body Candy Monthly Club is a collection of modified people who love being pierced and showing off their amazing body mods with beautiful jewelry. Every month, we curate body jewelry sets for you to rock in your piercings. We pack each and every one in a cute little bag for you to fall in love with. We've got something for just about everyone... cartilage jewelery, nipple jewelry, belly rings, nostril jewelry, tongue rings, septum jewelry, industrial bars, labret studs, vitamin c... and even t-shirts. C (Vitamin C, that is) you there!
Love,
- Alley
