The Tea: Keep Calm, Pierce On
Hey Body Candy Fam!
It me, Alley. Welcome to The Tea, my weekly Thursday piercing blog!
Who else is excited to get out there and get pierced?! ME TOO. It might have been a while since you've gotten modded, so I wanted to take a second to discuss how to chill out before and after a fresh piercing. Here's what I came up with:
Today's topics:
- First and foremost, find a reputable piercer! If you really want someone who holds themselves to the highest standard, try to find someone APP certified... There are lots of amazing shops out there - just do a little research before you head out.
- DRINK WATER! Stay hydrated. Avoid any stimulants like coffee or energy drinks if you can - sometimes these can have an adverse effect on your mood, aka the jitters.
- EAT FOOD. A bit of energy and sustenance will go a long way toward feeling good after you've been pierced. You may even want to plan for some take out after the procedure to make things easy on yourself.
- Try to calm your mind. Get a good night's sleep and try to meditate if you can. A good mindset goes a long way toward a happy piercing.
- Have your aftercare ready at home before you even leave - sure, you might get some swag from your piercer, but having the peace-of-mind of enough aftercare ready to go will help you feel better in the long run.

Tea bags. You heard me, tea bags. What could that possibly have to do with piercing? After a piercing, some piercers (not all) might recommend a warm, tea bag compress to put on your healing mod. There are lots of reasons for this - but the main one is a bunch of proteins called tannins. Tannins are what gives your tea its bitter flavor and its rich brown color, but they are also amazing substances that are anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial... This means that yes, putting a warm, damp tea bag compress on your new nose piercing might actually be a really good idea. We went over it in depth on this week's blog, Piercing Aftercare Tips: Can I Use A Tea Bag Compress? Bonus: enjoy your freshly brewed cup of tea while you're chilling out and taking care of your piercing, all at the same time. Win-win-win
Make sure you are doing everything you can to keep your skin safe this summer... Beyond sunscreen, adding Christopher David Vitamin C Serum to your daily ritual can truly keep you looking your best. What's with vitamin C Serum? It's an amazing skin care treatment that is formulated to keep your skin looking bright, tight, and nourished. Better yet, it can provide a helpful barrier against harmful UV rays and other pollutants/stressors to your skin. We think you'll like the lightweight formula - make sure you try it out today!
If you're getting The Tea in your email, you probably are already signed up for all of our weekly emails. But let me direct your attention to our Saturday series for just a second... Why?
