The Tea: Answering Your Piercing Questions, Vol. 14
Hey Body Candy Fam!
It's Thursday. It's The Tea. It's me - Alley. Thanks for being here!
If you're new here, welcome! We're here with Body Candy, the biggest and BEST body jewelry store on the internet... The Tea is my chance to talk about anything that's on my mind... As long as it's piercing related!
Sometimes, what I want to talk about is actually what YOU want to talk about. That's right - it's time for another edition of Answering Your Piercing Questions!
Today, we have questions from Peggy, Adryanna, and Sabrina - we're talking about tricky micro nose rings; o-rings for piercing jewelry; stubborn piercing bumps; and jewelry that's too small for a belly button ring.
Today's questions:
- At the beginning of this year, I had my nose pierced. I waited 3 months and it felt healed. I couldn't get back to my piercer to have her remove the gem she put in it when she pierced me, and slip a silver ring into place. So I decided I'd do it myself. I gently removed the gem, removed the long backing and discovered the short end with the gem had disappeared. I was able to put the long backing in its place temporarily, while I got my ring cleaned... and that's when my daughter walked in. She told me, loudly, that I had no business taking the original stud out because it took a year for piercings to heal. Then she told me I needed to get a micro O-ring to secure what I had in there. I got a bag of 30 figuring I could always use them on something else." - Peggy
- "So I love piercings but the always seem to get infected no matter what. I follow the rules and guidelines. I recently got a conch piercing but its infected now and has a bump on it. Any advice on how to help it heal? Or should I take it out?" - Adryanna
- "I re-pierced my belly button after a year & a half after it closed, but the jewelry I used was to small & was getting eaten, so I changed it to a hoop, but I'm afraid of it getting rejected, is there anything I can do to help?" - Sabrina
Make sure you watch my vlog for the answers to these great questions!

Nobody wants to think they're going to have a complication with their new piercing. While lots of amazing and professional piercers perform excellent piercing procedures on the daily, not every single piercing is placed perfectly. Unfortunately, you might find yourself with a "crooked" piercing. Maybe your belly ring just isn't sitting quite right in your navel. Maybe your nipple barbells are just a little askew. Either way, when it comes to crookedness, there are a few things at play. Depending on the age of your piercing, you may have a bit of swelling. A swollen piercing site will definitely impact the look of your piercing. We recommend giving your piercing one (1) to two (2) weeks to deal with swelling before you determine if your piercing is actually crooked or not. If you find that you're still crooked after your piercing is done being swollen, it is definitely time to go see a professional piercer for an in-person consult. They'll be able to diagnose the best ways to proceed next - check out this week's blog for even more tips: How to Fix a Crooked Piercing.
