The Tea: Answering Your Piercing Questions, Vol. 11
Hey Body Candy Fam!
Hello world! It's me, Alley, here with another edition of The Tea. It's my weekly video blog (or vlog for short) where we talk about all things piercings, body mods, and anything else that's on my mind. Thanks for joining us today!
I get lots of questions from Body Candy babes worldwide, so every now and then I like to answer a few of your questions live... I'm happy to present another edition of Answering Your Piercing Questions. I can't believe we're already on volume 11!
Today, we have questions from Ty, Valerie, and Blake - we're talking about piercing aftercare with nipple piercings, the aftermath of septum piercings, and getting your nose re-pierced. Check out the list of questions below, and be sure to watch my video for the answers in-full.
Today's questions:
- "Hello! It’s been just over a year since I got my nipples pierced, and they still aren’t fully healed. I haven’t changed the jewelry since, and I clean them but not as thoroughly as the first 6 months. Should I still be doing the salt soaks? Or does it just take longer to heal?" - Ty
- "Hey! I recently got my septum pierced and I decided to let my hole close up. I let it close up last year in December after having it only for a month. But now there is a mark in my nose where you can tell it was pierced, sorta like a bump. It’s doesn’t hurt and I can barely tell it’s there because it’s so small. Should I go get it checked?" - Valerie
- "I got my nose re pierced in December. So I have had it for a couple months. It was healing fine. Until a month and a half ago I got a bump by it. I clean it with salt water. However it isn't going away. I talked to a professional piercer and she said to scrub the bump with a q-tip to help clean it more. I have been for a week. Still nothing. No change. What else can I do?" - Blake

Have you ever seen a piercing that isn't through a typically-pierced body party (think belly button, nipple, earlobe, nose, or lip? Odds are you're looking at a "dermal" piercing - it's a stationary piercing anchored to the body using a special base that is inserted beneath the skin. The best part about dermal piercings is that they can be placed anywhere on the body - since they don't need to be pierced through a body part, the options are endless. Some common spots for dermal anchors include: the cheekbone, the clavicle, the nape of your neck, the hips, and the wrists. While these piercings aren't always permanent (dermal piercings are close to the surface of the skin, meaning they can be prone to rejection), with proper aftercare and attention, dermal piercings can last for years. We asked five (5) Body Candy customers what it was like to get their dermal piercings - read this week's blog to get a feel for what it was like for these individuals to head to the piercing studio to get a new mod: What Does it Feel Like to Get A Dermal Piercing?
