Q: Hi, I am having trouble inserting my spiral nose ring. I have watched the video, but it is not working. Pls help! -Clare
A: No worries! Anything new has a learning curve and we have a few additional tips and tricks that we think might help. First, before you put your nose ring in you're going to want to stretch it out a bit, it is pliable and it will stretch back. You just want to tug on it a little as though you're stretching a spring or a slinky. Now, you want to put the end of your jewelry in the hole with the extra bit facing away from your face, pointing in the direction of the tip of your nose. Once you've got that down all you have to do is keep twisting until the end comes out of your nostril and touches the outside of your nose behind your piercing. At this point, it's still going to be stretched out so you can just pinch it back together for your desired look. If you're more of a visual person, we have a video for you below 👇
Q: Hi! I had my nose pierced the end of March 2022. The original piercing came out, so I put a gold one in, a nose bone. Now every time I try to take this out to change my nose goes really sore and swollen, as if it isn't healed completely. Should I leave it in a bit longer then use a stretch cream to help open the hole to get it out? How long does it take for a piercing to heal completely? -Julie
A: Generally, when someone is having an issue getting a nose bone in or out of their nostril piercing, the problem lies with the ball. If you look at a nose bone, there’s a small ball at the end which is what keeps it from scratching your septum and prevents it from falling out. The issue comes in when the ball is bigger that the size of the fistula. This can mean that you either can’t get the jewelry in or you got the jewelry in but now can’t get it out. This is part of why nose bones are recommended jewelry for fresh piercings, as they tend to contract to the size of the jewelry in them, which on a nose bone would mean the post. A fresh nostril piercing takes about two to four months to heal entirely. If your piercing is fully healed and you are still struggling to get the jewelry in or out of your nostril, a trip to the piercer is in order. They can help you with both insertion and removal or help you find a style of jewelry that works better with your piercing. Good luck, Julie!
