Q: I think I accidentally swallowed the ball to my tongue ring in my sleep last night. What should I do? Is that dangerous? Thanks! -Val
A: Ugh, isn’t that just the worst?? Keep an eye and ear out when using the bathroom for the next few days. You need to make sure the ball end comes back out. You should hear it when it happens, but you’ll want to check and be sure. As long as you don’t suffer from any digestive disorders, it should pass through without issue. Keep in mind, this is definitely not medical advice, so you might want to touch base with a doctor anyway. Better safe than sorry! Best of luck!!
Q: I've gotten other piercings before where they give you the stuff to clean your piercings afterward. I went to a different place this time and they didn't. I have hydrogen peroxide. Is it ok to use on a new piercing? -Brookelyn
A: It is NEVER okay to clean a new piercing with hydrogen peroxide. What you will want to use is sterile saline wound wash. The ingredients should only list sterile saline. Neilmed makes a good one but any brand will work so long as it is ONLY sterile saline. Please do not use alcohol, benzalkonium chloride (the stuff mall-based gun piercers offer), or antibacterial soap. Just spray the piercing with the sterile saline, rinse with water, and dry with a hair dryer or clean paper towel. Happy piercing!
