Q: HELP! My septum clicker is stuck, and I can't get it out! I don't usually wear clickers so is there a trick to them or something? Thanks in advance. -Maya Z.
A: Ugh! Isn’t stuck jewelry the worst?? Do you happen to own a pair of forceps? Sometimes the right tool for the job can make a world of difference. If not, you can check out our septum clicker hack in the video below or you may need to take a trip to the piercer. They won’t charge you much for a jewelry change and they have the tools and angle to be able to remove it for you. For future reference, you may wish to check how securely jewelry in clicker and hinged segment styles shut. With some styles there is a clasp visible, with two prongs that secure the end of the barbell. You may wish to VERY gently ease the prongs apart the tiniest bit with the edge of a thin coin or a pocketknife to loosen that grip the tiniest bit. That will make it easier to remove in the future. Best of luck with your septum jewelry!
Q: Hi there! New to the whole piercing thing so sorry if this is a dumb question. I just got my tongue pierced 3 months ago and I'm wondering if I need to go to my piercer to have them change out my jewelry or is it safe to do it myself? -Kaity Duff
A: The only dumb question is the one we don’t ask. Don’t ever be afraid to ask questions! As for your piercing, since it’s relatively fresh, you may wish to see a piercer for your first jewelry change. While tongue jewelry tends to come in standard sizes, you may be better off with jewelry that is longer or shorter than standard. They can give you your best fit as well as making sure you get good quality jewelry. After you know what size you need, you are free to change your jewelry yourself. And, of course, if you already downsized during your healing process, you are certainly free to change out the jewelry yourself. Just remember – if you change your jewelry over the sink, remember to close the drain first! And be patient. Trying to get the ends on for the first time can always feel challenging but take your time and you’ll get it. Happy piercing!
