Q: Ok so I love the look of stretched piercings... not just on ears but all of them. Thinking of trying it. Can you stretch any piercing or are there only certain ones that will work? I would do my earlobes, but everyone does that. Going for something unique. -Daliah M
A: You can stretch almost EVERY piercing! For a look that’s less common than the lobes, people stretch conch piercings, septum piercings, lip piercings, even nostril piercings! (Isn’t the human body fantastic? This is one of the many things we love about body modification!) Each piercing, depending on where it’s located, may require different tools but any piercing can be carefully stretched, within the bounds of your own personal anatomy. Happy piercing!
Q: I have a question. What is a standard size nostril piercing? Because I can still fit my original nose ring in my nose, and I am not sure what the standard size is. Much appreciated, if I could find out the standard size because I would like to fit a piece of jewelry in my nose piercing that is the standard size. - Cherice
A: Typically, a standard nostril piercing is 18 gauge. However, if you’re really concerned, the best thing you can do is buy an inexpensive set of calipers. They’re great to have around to measure both the gauge and length/diameter of your jewelry. An 18 gauge piece of jewelry has a thickness of 1mm. However, the difference in either direction (20 gauge or 16 gauge) is roughly two-tenths of a millimeter so if your nose piercing is not standard sized, it shouldn’t really make much difference. Best of luck!
