Q: If I buy some jewelry from you guys, can I take it to my piercer to have them use that? -Boyd
A: Most reputable piercers will not allow their clients to bring their own jewelry for piercing. The jewelry needs to be autoclaved first, to ensure that it’s sterile. They also want to be sure of the materials the jewelry was made of to ensure that your piercing heals without issue. Also, it can be difficult to predict the sizing of the jewelry needed, as most piercings are done with longer jewelry than you’d wear after it heals, in order to allow for swelling. Also, Body Candy jewelry is fashion jewelry, so it’s not really designed to be pierced with. But once your piercing heals, we’ll be here with plenty of fun new jewelry to wear! Best of luck!
Q: I'm in the process of stretching my lobes but they're really red and raw right now. Should I stop? What can I do to get them back to normal? -Mike
A: So, there’s a bunch of questions here to be asked. What are you stretching your lobes with? Are you using tapers? Are you using the dead stretching method? How long are you waiting in between stretches? The best thing you can do to heal your ears right now is take your jewelry out. Let your lobes breathe and let that raw redness heal entirely. (You may lose some size but better that than getting an infection or a blowout.) When they have fully healed, you can put plugs back in that are appropriate to whatever size they are at that point. You’ll want to make sure you’re using single-flare glass plugs to stretch with and that you never stretch more than 1mm at a time. You also don’t want to stretch more frequently than every three to six months to make sure they have fully healed. Please check out our blog post for more information. Happy stretching!
