Q: Just got my nips pierced. Is it normal for them to itch so much? -Noah S
A: Yes, this is a pretty normal part of the healing process. After all, a piercing is a wound, and wounds frequently get itchy when they’re healing. Unless the itching is extreme or accompanied by signs of infection (redness, opaque yellow or green discharge, fever, warmth, extreme swelling) it’s entirely normal and not to worry about. Try not to scratch as you can damage the tissue and extend the healing process or even injure yourself. Best of luck!
Q: I prefer subtle body mods. I have my lobes (first & second), and my conch pierced. I want to get another. What would you recommend? -Zoe G
A: If you’re looking for subtlety as your primary concern, you have a few options. One is to get a piercing that your clothes will naturally cover while you’re at work, such as navel or nipple piercings. If, however, you wish to keep it above the neck then you may wish to consider a rook piercing. It’s a piercing that works well with a variety of anatomies and on many people can actually be a challenge to spot unless you’re looking directly into their ear. Since you already have a conch piercing, you’ve had some experience with both getting and healing a cartilage piercing and it lends itself well to understated jewelry styling. Happy piercing!
