Eyebrow piercings have been around for ages and tend to be placed in the outermost corner of the brows. But it doesn’t have to be that same spot, you can pierce other parts of the eyebrow for an updated look on the classic! Today we’re going to take a moment to look at centered eyebrow piercings and what they’re all about.
What Is It?
A centered eyebrow piercing is like the standard one, but it’s located in the center of your eyebrow. You can do one brow or both, do them alone or with other eyebrow piercings. There are a number of options here, but the actual piercing is exactly what it sounds like it is.

Anatomy
In order to get this piercing, you need the proper anatomy, or it will end with the piercing rejecting. A discernible brow ridge needs to be there, even if it’s not especially prominent. If the brow ridge is flat, you will not be able to support the piercing, and it will inevitably reject. If you’re unsure about whether you’re anatomically suited to an eyebrow piercing, you can always get evaluated by a trustworthy professional piercer. Better to find out that it’s not going to work with your body than go to someone who performs it anyway and leaves you with a mess to deal with.
Jewelry
Like any other eyebrow piercing, your initial jewelry will be a small, curved barbell. It should be long enough to accommodate the initial swelling, so it may look a bit too long once that passes. Your piercer will tell you when to come back and downsize your jewelry. It’s important that you do so, oversized jewelry tends to snag on things, and you don’t want that happening to a healing piercing. The selection of ends may be somewhat limited, including ball ends, gem-set ball ends, and hemisphere ends. Shapes like cone ends and gem ends, that stick out, are prone to snagging so it’s best to get pierced with something smoother. Once your piercing is fully healed, you can switch to whatever style ends you like or even experiment with circular jewelry, but you’ll have to wait until you’re fully healed. This can take anywhere from four months to a full year, depending on your body.

Aftercare
The aftercare is the same as most non-oral piercings. Spray it twice a day with sterile saline solution, rinse, and then pat dry with a clean paper towel using clean hands. It is important to remember that this is a surface piercing in the sense that you aren’t piercing through a discrete piece of tissue like an earlobe or the lip of a navel. However, it is not a surface piercing in the same way that a piercing done with a surface bar or dermal implants are surface piercings. Like all piercings, particularly surface piercings, centered eyebrow piercings do run the risk of migration (the jewelry is moved by the body so it’s no longer in its original position) or rejection (the body pushes the jewelry entirely out of the skin). If this should happen, it is vital to remove the jewelry as early as possible to minimize scarring.
And there we have it – everything you might want to know about centered eyebrow piercings. If you’re looking for something new that’s a bit of a different spin on the classic, this might be exactly what you’re after! Happy piercing!
