Labret Stud Fit & Placement Guide
Fit: lip piercings are mostly 14G, with 16G for a finer post; Monroe and Medusa run the same. Length is what makes or breaks comfort: 5/16 inch (8mm) is the snug healed fit, 3/8 inch (10mm) gives fuller lips room, 7/16 inch is for fresh swelling, and 1/4 inch is the tragus length that also suits a very snug Monroe. Measure the post you wear now; every product page lists gauge and length.
Placement names, same jewelry: labret is centered below the lower lip, Monroe is the beauty-mark spot above the upper lip (Madonna on the other side), Medusa is the divot under the nose. Every stud here fits all three; only the length changes.
Posts: internally threaded and threadless push-in posts are smooth where they pass through the piercing, so they are the pick for new or sensitive lips; externally threaded posts are the classic and fine once healed. Downsize the post as swelling fades so the disc stays off your gums. Steel suits most people and holds a trace of nickel in the alloy; titanium is the nickel-free pick and solid 14k gold is the forever one.
